Driving Lessons!

This last week, I had the opportunity to spend 5 hours helping my daughter, Ruchi, learn to drive. I really enjoyed it! Watching your child move across a life threshold is a special blessing.

When I learned to drive in Indiana at age 16, it was a breeze to get my license. They make it easy because so many young people drive already on the farm by the age of 16. Here in Maryland, just outside Washington, DC, it seemed to take my son years to achieve! He was eager to drive, and the state wanted to make sure they did everything they could to help him survive his early years without an accident. It worked.

Ruchi and I had a great time together. She enjoys driving and pushes to do more whenever we get in the car. I love watching her learn, and she’s picking it up fast, so it’s easy to relax and enjoy her process. She has to rack up 60 hours behind the wheel, take a professional behind-the-wheel class that is 6 hours of driving time, take a written course, and then pass her tests at the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration. Then off she goes, driving away…
