Into the Woods

Got my list out. Getting ready to go in the woods for a personal retreat with my canine companion, Kaya, this summer.

Just made a batch of chili to dehydrate for backwoods dinner. Soon, I’ll be bringing equipment down from the attic. In a few days, I will head out to the Shenandoahs, taking a trail into the wilderness.

The more I put into my work, the more important self-care is. Getting away from all of my roles, taking in the night without artificial light or city glow, listening to night critters walking around my tent… it’s all part of the process of letting go.

That’s where I go for equanimity and clear sight. Where do you go? What do you do?

“Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are even incapable of forming such opinions.” – Albert Einstein
