Laura’s New Album!

One of the greatest joys of my life is watching my wife, Laura Baron, create and perform music. I get to see her develop songs from scratch, go into the studio, and bring home tales of wonderful musicians as she and her exceptional producer, Marco Delmar, bring the arrangements to life. And because she does almost all original music, there is the nuanced pleasure of knowing the artist… capturing details in songs and production that take me deeper into her world.  That’s why I celebrate when she releases a new body of work like she is doing this month!

Saturday, January 20th, 7:30 pm, Laura will be at the Church of the Ascension in Silver Spring. Her concert will center on her new work, eight amazing songs. She will be accompanied by musicians, Dave Ylvisaker (keyboards and craziness!),  Jon Nazdin (bassist extraordinaire), and Cletus Kennelly (an amazing vocalist who will accompany Laura – listen to their wonderful rendition of Auld Lang Syne). It’s going to be a wonderful event. They are all masters.

There are two things Laura loves to do, produce and perform. She loves working in the studio, and she loves sharing her music. This event bridges one to the other.  I will be there to enjoy as these songs are shared for the first time in a live performance.

The event is sponsored by FOCUS and you can buy tickets at focusmusic.org – each ticket comes with a CD, so you get all the amazing artwork that goes with the songs. There is also a streaming option, so you can watch from anywhere in the world.

If you come, let me know so I can be on the lookout for you!

What special joys do you have in store this week?
