Every morning my dog, Sita, and I take a long walk. It’s a special time for deep thoughts.

There are many benefits I squeeze from our sunrise stroll. It gives me an opportunity before the demands of the day to work on what seems personally important, relevant to the particulars of my current circumstances.

It’s a time for what I call “practical spirituality” – what I want to focus on that is meaningful in my life right now. Early in my day, I am motivated to do the hard work of self-reflection, course correction, and even taking on tasks I find super challenging.

When is your special time this week to focus on what is most important to you?

“I love the sensation of being out in the open air, far away from all the distractions of modern life. I will usually disappear for a couple of hours, and that time on my bike is quite sacred, as it’s when I do all my serious thinking. Sometimes I will stop off at bikers’ cafe and have a bacon sandwich.”
