Mandating change is no longer sufficient. Today, much change is generated from social movements that create real impact. Based on research by social activist and Tufts University professor, Christina Economos, I’ve created a plan that facilitates change. Whether you’re trying to create change within your organization, your community, or your country, these 10 elements will be key to your success.

  1. Change must be framed as a crisis
  2. Has to be grounded in science
  3. Has to have an economic basis
  4. You must have evangelists
  5. Coalition building
  6. Advocacy
  7. Government involvement
  8. Mass communication
  9. Environment and policies that encourage doing the right thing
  10. You need to have a plan
