Devi and I got rained out for my annual backcountry trip up north. Rain every day, all throughout the Adirondacks and beyond.
I was able to find a weak spot in the storm in the New Paltz / Ellenville / Woodstock area. We travelled around there and spent lots of time in woods for last 8 days.
In two of these pix Devi and I are at the Comeau Property just outside of Woodstock, New York, where there are wonderful trails and it’s not too populated… we crossed paths with only one person during our time here.
In one you see her looking out over a ridge in the woods. She is attracted to looking out over areas from above, so she goes to the edge of overlooks to survey the woods below.
One night a big storm moved in over us slowly with rolling thunder, big claps of lightning followed by deep booming crashes, then lots of rain. It was a fabulous show. We were outside on the deck of a tent on massive stilts, a kind of tree house just beyond Ellenville.
The Adirondack trip didn’t happen as planned, but Devi and I adapted and found an adventure shaped by woods, solitude, storms, and rain.
“Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable.”
