Chasing Impact

I passed a cluster of candles in a restaurant recently and felt myself settle a bit, touched by an ancient response. The light was warm. It was more than a decoration for me. It was an attempt to change how people would feel in that space, shifting toward inner peace and reflection in a very busy environment.

That’s a photo I snapped of the actual display.

We often chase impact through big moves and sweeping change. Yet this reminded me that atmosphere is built through small, consistent signals. Each candle is modest on its own, but together they move the entire room.

This is the work we do with each other. In every interaction, we set the tone. A bit more patience, a steady presence, a kind word at the right moment. These are small acts, but they accumulate and create conditions where people can think, trust, and contribute.

We do not need permission to do this. We can choose to be the source of warmth in the room. Thoughtful, intentional, and steady.

I’ll be trying my best to be a bearer of light this week. Look for the others who are there, interaction by interaction, lighting the way.
