Grateful for Wilderness

Took a walk in the woods near my home with Kaya, along a tributary that pours into the Potomac. It is surrounded by parkland, a hidden gem, a bit inland from the big river.

Together we sat in the woods as the sun went down, on a hill overlooking the moving water. For me, there’s nothing quite as calming as being quiet in the forest.

With all the turmoil in the world today I am grateful to have nature as a source of renewal, and so close to my home.

Even as the fall leaves drop now, they turn into the woods’ soil that I walk upon. It’s soothing to feel so powerfully a part of something so much larger. It opens my heart.

“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.”
