Sometimes I wake up early in the morning, long before my alarm clock goes off, with a fire in my belly. I have learned that the best way to handle that is to pull out my journal and write down whatever is on my mind.

Sometimes that is a to-do list that my subconscious feels has evaded my normal routine. Other times it is a specific thought about something I need to do or someone I need to contact. Sometimes it’s just a mosh-mosh of ideas that spill out higgledy-piggledy on the page. No matter what I write, it puts my mind at ease to capture it where I can review it later and take action on it.

Often, this simple act is enough to calm me down and I go back to sleep until my normal waking hour arrives. But, there are other days where I get up and get to work on whatever was fueling that fire. Either way, my intuition is keeping me on track. I am immensely grateful for this below-conscious part of my mind. There is hardly a time when it misses the mark. I don’t know how it works, but I am thankful it does! I have learned to listen to my intuition, to take its inclinations seriously. And I am amazed at how valuable it is to me.
