When I first started helping CEOs take on big, complex change, I thought transformation was mostly about getting the strategy right. Clear vision, good plan, solid milestones. That’s what everyone teaches.
But over the years, I learned something different. The real power in transformation isn’t in the spreadsheets or the decks. It’s in the people. It’s in the relationships, the trust, and the courage it takes to show up when everything feels uncertain.
I’ve worked with leaders who have taken on cross-sector collaborations, industry-wide modernization, and even cultural shifts that changed how an entire profession sees itself. The ones who broke through had three things in common:
- They aligned before they acted. They made sure people understood why the change mattered before they talked about what to do.
- They created space for honest truth-telling. They didn’t shy away from disagreement. They listened deeply and surfaced the hard stuff early.
- They modeled the energy they wanted to see. Their behavior became the steady signal that the change was gonna be real.
One CEO once told me, “The hardest part isn’t the plan. It’s staying grounded when everyone around you feels unsure.” That line has stayed with me because it’s true for all of us, not just CEOs.
So here’s some Mojo for this week:
Hold your vision steady, even if the world wobbles.
Stay connected to the people around you, even when the work gets hard.
And remember why your effort matters… because that’s what fuels others to follow.
Whatever transformation you’re leading, in your team, your organization, or your own life, you don’t have to have it all figured out. You just have to keep showing up with clarity, honesty, and energy.
Wishing you a strong week ahead.
“Life is a mystery. Life is uncertain. It makes one feel a bit wobbly to realize that.”
