On the Streets of New York

I have the great joy to be married to Laura Baron. Among many other things, she is a talented and highly esteemed singer-songwriter. One of my delights is having a front row seat to the many rehearsals that take place in our home, including all of the wonderful musicians who perform with her. Laura not only writes and records, she produces videos of some of her songs.

If you are a regular reader, you will recall, A Little Note, for which Laura won song of the year at the Washington Area Music Awards, across all categories. This music video tells the story of a woman who breaks free from an abusive relationship. Laura turned it into an amazing video that you can watch by clicking on the song title in the previous sentence.

Laura has also turned one of her latest songs, On the Streets of New York, into a video. Take a listen. I am a New Yorker, having been born there. Her homage to the Statue of Liberty, portraying the strength and inclusiveness of the people of New York, is rewarding to experience. Today, the entire United States is a melting pot due in part to those millions that sailed into Ellis Island with nothing more than a suitcase and a dream. Two of them were my great grandparents.

I hope you enjoy her music! May it bring you some light into the week ahead!

If I can make it there, I’m gonna make it anywhere. It’s up to you, New York
