Last Tuesday I visited JB Colson, my father’s best friend. My father passed away last November. The last time I saw JB I was less than 4’ tall!
JB is a master photographer and helped to create the first program ever dedicated to the history of photography in the 60s, at the University of Texas in Austin. He and I have been in contact over the last few years. During that time I learned that he became a Tibetan Buddhist in recent years. I had the opportunity to visit him face-to-face last week and seized it.
Instead of spending a lot of time talking about the past, we had the opportunity to share our views about the present and the future. I felt like providence brought us together, companions on life’s road.
The picture above is me and JB standing on his deck. I thank my father for forging a relationship that would carry me forward this week. It was an honor and a pleasure to spend the day with JB.
