My daughter Ruchi celebrated her fifth grade promotion this week. When I was in fifth grade we didn’t have a “promotion.” It’s like a graduation, preparing the youngsters for sixth grade.

For one evening, Ruchi dressed up and put on a special dress. She was all smiles. Not the norm for a 14-year-old!

I ran into another father who’s a good friend at the event. He told me what a hard time he was having at home with his teenagers. Well it’s not always easy at our home either! But I will take joy whenever it comes. The whole family had a great evening together.

If there’s an area in your life that’s difficult right now, ask if there’s some small activity that might bring people together. Anything that puts a smile on everyone’s face is well worth the investment.

The butterfly counts not months but moments, and has time enough.
