While at the World Bank, I worked on a project to build 120 global communities of practice. Through my work, I learned what it takes to bring groups of professionals together and guide their focus to the topics most important to their sectors. One advantage of working with a community of professionals is the opportunity to pull varying perspectives together and gain insight into the frontier of innovation – a unique attribute owned by every association.
As we move forward in the 21st century, associations need to continue to be front and center for their value proposition. If every association were able to chart the path of innovation, they would have an opportunity to map out the future of this country and, in some respects, the world.
