Last week, I was in the kitchen cooking vegan Malai Kofta. In the pic, I am holding the pan with the kaftas
There was flour on the counter, cashews soaking, spices blooming in hot EarthBalance, and at one point, I realized I was smiling and just cooking. Slowly. With care. For people I love. That felt like the season in me doing what it does best.
This time of year has a way of pulling us out of our heads and into our hands. We stir. We chop. We taste. Lots of tasting, a hazard of the season! We offer something we made to someone else.
Even if today is stacked with meetings and a black hole of an inbox, the seasonal energy does not disappear.
Start today the way you would start a great dish. Turn on the heat. Use what you have. Add spice with intention. Do each thing in sequence while paying attention to getting it right as best you can.
Effort infused with care changes how everything turns out.
Merry Holidays and Happy Season!
“Cooking is all about people. Food is maybe the only universal thing that really has the power to bring everyone together. No matter what culture, everywhere around the world, people get together to eat.”
– Guy Fieri
