Isaac Asimov’s Foundation Series is being brought to the screen. The stories take place in the end days of a future Galactic Empire, Hari Seldon, a mathematician, develops psychohistory. Using statistics, he predicts the future of large populations.

I love sci-fi and so am drawn to it. I couldn’t help but capture the quote above, “Math is never just numbers. In the wrong hands, it’s a weapon. In the right hands, deliverance.”

Scientists build weapons. They also develop medications and provide essential models to assist with global issues like the loss of biodiversity and the challenge of climate change. Our technological prowess as a civilization has long been a double-edged sword.

Intention can matter so much, literally pushing an outcome from one objective to another. What is the purpose behind your work? How can you ensure results in alignment with your deepest values?

“Math is like going to the gym for your brain. It sharpens your mind.”

– Danica McKellar
