Keeping Heart

There are moments when the path ahead disappears. Not because you’ve lost your way, but because the terrain itself has shifted beneath your feet. What worked yesterday no longer applies. What comes next is unclear. And yet, you still have to move forward.

That’s where my family is now with our faithful canine companion, Kaya.

What began last week as pancreatitis escalated quickly into a liver crisis. There were moments this past weekend when we didn’t know if she would make it home. But she did. And now we are in a different kind of challenge, the quiet, watchful work of care. It is uncertain. It is demanding. And it requires heart.

In times like these, you don’t get certainty first and then act. You act in the absence of certainty. You give your best with what you know now. You stay present. You make the next right move. And then the next. Not force. Not blind optimism. But steady, grounded commitment when outcomes are not guaranteed.

We’ve been deeply moved by how many people have reached out asking how they can help Kaya. Some have asked for a way to contribute, so we’ve set up a GoFundMe. If you feel called, we would be grateful. And if not, your care and good wishes mean so much.

Whatever happens: When the future is unclear, keep heart. Stay with what matters. Take the next step. Trust in persistence, anchor in care, stay open

May you carry your heart into the week ahead, and find strength especially when things are uncertain.
