I recently led an event featuring Susan Neely, CEO of the American Council of Life Insurers, and Jay Timmons, CEO of the National Association of Manufacturers. Special appreciation to Jay for hosting at the NAM! Susan, Jay and I explored with 35 CEOs in attendance just how association CEOs change the world.
Previously, Susan was the CEO of the American Beverage Association. While there, she had activists criticizing her members for delivering high-calorie drinks to young children. Susan talked with us about identifying the gem of truth the opposition presented and then moving to be an honest broker on behalf of her industry. Susan also detailed how she presented data to the CEOs of Coke, Pepsi, and Dr Pepper in a way that convinced them to collaborate with their competitors and the great public visibility that was achieved as a result.
This is just one example of the kind of case studies that we’ll be exploring at my upcoming Visionary Leadership Academy, on March 10th. This event is for executives just below the CEO level and is specifically designed to provide tools, techniques, and skills so that they can raise their game when it comes to delivering value for their association. And, of course, I provide 7 CAE credits for attendance.
