Professional Communities Help Lead Change

I am engaged in a large-scale change initiative with a major institution. The work reminds me of the success I’ve had helping other organizations – like the World Bank and Royal Dutch Shell – with culture change. The major lesson learned from all these works is that communities – groups of professionals who share a passion for a common interest -are the best places for change to take hold.

A key element of a successful initiative is buy-in and support. These can be attained by enrolling professionals who care about different aspects of the change. When you bring together people who truly care about something and make them part of an initiative you weave the change into the social fabric of your organization.
