Every Monday is the beginning of the workweek, and I celebrate by taking stock, planning for achievement, and being present. I love Monday mornings as a time to check-in and look ahead.
As a boy, I was fascinated by the solstice and the seasons. I always thought it was interesting that it started getting cold after the winter solstice and had to find out why (it’s because of the Earth’s angle to the sun and the amount of warmth or lack of it that infiltrates our planet’s surface).
Taking out the weekly trash was one of my chores growing up. Once per week, I dragged the cans to the street. Today I wheel them. Every night I went out I noticed the weather, clear or storming, cold or warm. With my weekly check-in, I gauged the passing of time and noted the natural elements of the season. I associate that little pause and exploration with taking out the trash, so it has come to be something I enjoy.
Here we are on another Monday morning, and it’s time to begin so much. There is always more to do than can be done. And throughout there are the wonderful moments when time stops and we can just take notice, breathing in and becoming aware. Welcome to your week! What’s ahead for you?
If you laugh, you think, and you cry, that’s a full day. That’s a heck of a day. You do that seven days a week, you’re going to have something special.
