Warm weather is coming to DC. Two nights in the Shenandoahs next week will be in the 40s. Kaya and I are ready.
My pre-camping ritual involves taking out all the supplies I might need and laying them out to ensure everything is there. I have checklists for different types of camping trips. The one I am using now is for a short trip with Kaya.
See that blue and grey blob in the photo? That’s a dog sleeping bag. I field tested it on a five-night trip last summer. I know it works because she stopped trying to steal my sleeping bag every time I left it unattended (in the middle of the night, lol).
See the laundry hamper? It’s my favorite car trip tool. It’s super lightweight, easy to see what’s inside, very inexpensive, and has different baskets for different groups of items.
I am so looking forward to being in the wilderness. It’s one of my favorite spiritual retreat settings. Surrounded by nature in space and time, away from all of my roles.
