Well, it’s a balmy 29° F here in Washington, DC. There is little wind, and it’s a welcome relief from earlier in the week when the temperature dipped to six, and there were gusts of up to 50 mph. It’s finally safe to take the dog for a walk again. And it’s the day after Christmas!
We had a great celebration, including some wonderful time with extended family… and now it is the day after. I will read the New York Times in front of our fireplace while my wife listens to studio demos as she works on her latest album. Downtime in the best sense of the word. This is as great a time to get things done as it is to seek personal renewal. I always find that when I have freedom in my brain, some of my best ideas emerge.
Do you have an opportunity to do something exceptional this week that you don’t normally have time to fit in? How about some much-deserved R&R? Don’t underestimate restorative powers!
“A holiday is an opportunity to journey within. It is also a chance to chill, to relax. It is when I switch on my rest mode.”
