In my work, I have the great pleasure of meeting true luminaries, ordinary people who have succeeded at extraordinary efforts. Susan Neely is such a leader. Today she is CEO of the American Beverage Association (ABA) and later this summer, she will assume her new position as CEO of the American Council of Life Insurers. During her time at ABA Susan brought together the largest soda manufacturers, our most iconic brands, to make the world a healthier place for kids at school.

I had the chance to sit down with her earlier this year, to learn first hand about her amazing work. I followed up doing research on my own. What I learned was inspiring. Her actions provide many rock-solid lessons about leadership. It is a shining example of what can be done when someone takes their humanity and channels it to make the world a better place for all. Through her diligence, intelligence, clear-sighted focus, courage and action she has generated wins for many, including our children.

I documented what I learned. You can download my essay on Susan and her achievements here
